The aim of this project is to test the performance of indoor environmental sensors under a set of environmental conditions that are commonly encountered in buildings.
In particular, we examine the influence of variable air temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide level, volatile organic compounds and particulate matter level. In addition, we will probe the influence of variable sensing time of the sensors.
Three grades of environmental sensors are tested:
1) High grade scientific equipment (reference).
2) Medium grade equipment used by indoor air quality professionals (industry).
3) Low-cost environmental sensors used for continuous monitoring.
