Analysis of the structural performance of building systems developed up to 1990 (Western Switzerland)

To carry out construction structural performance studies on a large scale, some basic elements must be known; for example, construction systems, such as the load-bearing structure, and secondary elements (e.g. façades) and their features. We are, however, far from this state of knowledge.

Indeed, since 1850, in parallel with conventional masonry construction, several other systems (load-bearing systems and secondary elements) have been developed, patented, built and sometimes even forgotten. Today, we do not build as we used to 30 years ago and knowledge linked to previous construction has been lost.
