The Housing Atlas is a source information about typomorphological features. Developed by the HEIA-FR's architecture department over ten years ago and updated at regular intervals by several professors, this online database was initially used by students. The current online database now needs to be completely redesigned to expand the current user community to include new target groups, specifically researchers and practitioners in the field of architecture.

A working group comprised of architecture professors was established in the autumn of 2018 to assess the feasibility of this professionalisation project, which would entail the removal of content having limited relevance to HEIA-FR, the enhancement and restructuring of existing content and the addition of missing elements. In parallel to the project to redesign the online database, a project to develop a publication on contemporary housing will also be launched
