MODULAR PAVILION

The aim of the Demo-Mi2 project is the design, implementation and experimentation of a mobile demonstrator operating as a microclimate for scientific, educational and awareness-raising purposes, in response to the challenge of urban heat islands. This modular pavilion, designed by the ENERGY and TRANSFORM institutes of the University of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg (HEIA-FR), is open to the public and will be set up successively in four locations in the city centre of Fribourg, starting with the bluefactory site.

In Switzerland, the Spatial Planning Act imposes a principle of urban densification for the inner city. With climate change, the accentuation of high summer heat (urban heat islands or UHIs) creates a new challenge. These UHIs are deployed at street or neighbourhood level and need local mitigation measures.
