Using the NeighborHub pavilion as a case study - which is both a research facility and a sociocultural activator installed on the bluefactory site in Fribourg - the Building2050 Group helped the Smart Living Lab and the ENERGY Institute to obtain the approval of the EPFL ethics committee. The latter body seeks to ensure compliance with research ethics and laws on the protection of personal data.
This project, using a dual-function building with a large number of sensors to monitor its performance, has allowed us to gain feedback in this field and to reach the goal of being able to share building monitoring data for research purposes with Smart Living Lab researchers.
