This module of the Joint Master of Architecture of the School of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg presents raw earth as a building material for a new sustainable construction.

The seminar allows students to grasp the potential of earth in contemporary construction, through an alternation of theoretical and practical courses: lectures dealing with different construction and architectural techniques (adobe, compressed earth blocks, sprayed earth, earth-concrete, etc.), as well as experimental workshops.

Teaching objectives

To broaden one's knowledge in the field of raw earth construction.

To open a field of creative experimentation (individual and collective) with a forgotten material.

To raise students' awareness of the environmental challenges of construction.

Stimulate team spirit through participatory dynamics in order to achieve optimized results
