MIT Media Lab and Smart Living Lab Workshop

In November, the 2nd edition of the MIT Media Lab x Smart Living Lab workshop took place at MIT (Program link). This event followed the 1st edition, held at the Smart Living Lab in Switzerland in January 2024. Participants from ETHOS Lab, HOBEL Lab (EPFL Fribourg), and the Human-IST Institute (UniFR) joined, including Prof. Denis Lalanne, director of Human-IST.

A big thank you to the Responsive Environments Group, led by Prof. Joe Paradiso, for hosting us, and special thanks to Patrick, Sam, and Cathy for their support during the preparation and throughout the week!

The week began with presentations that sparked idea exchanges and connections among participants. Prof. Paradiso gave us a guided tour of the Media Lab, showcasing its innovative spaces. In the days that followed, we visited additional labs, expanded our networks, and explored opportunities for future collaboration. We also had the chance to visit Swissnex, where we learned about their work supporting Swiss innovations globally. The week provided valuable moments to reflect on our research and engage in thoughtful discussions. It concluded with an insightful talk by Prof. Lalanne.
